Should I Book an Akashic Records Reading?

Most people think of psychic readings, like Akashic Records readings, as just something you do on a whim with friends when you’re out together, late at night when you can’t sleep, or when you’re looking for a quick preview of what’s to come.

Or sometimes as a last resort, when you feel stuck and know your friends have heard the story one too many times.

But the truth is, an Akashic Records session is one spiritual reading that shouldn’t be left to chance. It’s actually a useful self-help tool that many aren’t even aware exists.

An Akashic Records reading can be helpful if you’re looking for clarity, perspective and a simple way to understand what’s coming up in your life.

It’s a connection with Spirit that brings reassurance, supportive guidance and a better understanding of what’s influencing your life right now, especially when things feel complicated or uncertain.

Akashic … what?

I hadn’t heard of the Akashic Records either until about five years ago.

I happened to be taking a walk, listening to a podcast [The Line Podcast], when the host, Ashley, described a spiritual tool that immediately connects you with Spirit to explore patterns, challenges and deeper questions about your life.

It wouldn’t predict the future, but would make sense of things and how to go forward.

I thought to myself,

“I’m 50. I’ve been to mediums, palm readers and tarot readers over the years. How come no one ever told me about this book about me that I can use and connects me with my spirit guides?”

As soon as I got home, I began researching what the Akashic Records were all about and dove in to learn how to explore my own through a class I now offer, eventually even becoming a reader for others.

What’s an Akashic Records Reading?

What are Akashic Records?

Akashic Records readings are available in person or virtually

First, let’s cover the basics.

Akasha is a Sanskrit term that means “ether.”

Your Akashic Records are sometimes described as a universal cosmic database.  It’s also been called our “Book of Life” by Edgar Cayce. He was an early 1900s American clairvoyant who explored past lives and offered spiritual guidance in well documented Akashic Records sessions. The Akashic Records holds all of your:

• Thoughts,

• Emotions,

• Experiences, and

• Actions from this life and past lives.

  
  

Basically, it’s like a spiritual Google all about you. 

It’s not just people who have Records. Animals, trees, buildings and even land have them, too. Recently I’ve been filming my experiences of opening the Akashic Records in different places, including a town’s spring and a charming historic hotel.

The best part? 

Everyone has access to their own Records “book” and can learn to open them.

It just takes a lot of practice and trust, like when you’re learning a new language or instrument. Many people prefer to just go to an Akashic Records Reader, someone who is skilled at accessing your Records on your behalf with your permission. 

What Happens in a Reading

A typical Akashic Records reading begins with a brief guided meditation and a prayer of intention.

Then, we move into a conversation where you ask questions and receive answers from your Records.

Each reader works a little differently, but the goal is always to receive supportive guidance from your Spirit Team (that includes Masters, Guides, Teachers, Beings of Light, Ancestors and Departed Loved Ones) aligned with your highest good.

Sample Questions You Might Ask in a Reading

• Where am I stuck in my current path and what’s a good way to move forward?

• What am I meant to understand or learn from this situation?

• What strengths or gifts am I being asked to use more fully?

• How might Option 1 support me differently than Option 2?

• What’s the next best step in this transition?

Why People Book an Akashic Records Reading

There are many reasons why someone might want an Akashic Records reading to hear from their own Spirit Team who knows them so well, such as:

• Guidance through a crossroad, transition or decisions 

• Spiritual Mentoring and goal setting

• Learning what spiritual gifts you have through past lives

• Insight into challenges, patterns or conflicts

• Support during times of uncertainty

• Monthly check-ins for business

• End-of-year reflection 

• Relationships or soul contract clarity

• Support with health and wellness

A session may be virtual or in-person, or even shared as an audio recording or a written document.

In one of my first Akashic Records readings, I asked about past-life gifts I could use now and was shown a lifetime of an old village woman concocting herbal remedies for others. It instantly clicked when I thought about all those childhood afternoons mixing “plant mud pies” in the backyard, my lifelong love of baking, and how much I enjoyed a new mushroom and plant foraging group I had recently joined in my neighborhood.

I remember closing my notebook and thinking, oh… that explains a lot. I felt settled and inspired. Like being pointed in the right direction.

That single insight led me to take classes and eventually create workshops for others.

It showed me how practical and life-affirming an Akashic Records reading can be.

5 Benefits of an Akashic Reading

I don’t recommend relying on Akashic Records sessions for every decision. We’re meant to live our lives, going through the ups and downs, without handing our power over to any spiritual tool all the time.

But there are times when an Akashic Records reading can be incredibly helpful, like when you're:

• At a crossroads,

• Feeling stuck, or

• Just want a little clarity and reassurance to help you move forward

  
  

Some of the benefits include: 

1. Seeing a situation more clearly, without the emotional fog

2. Walking away with a more hopeful perspective

3. Having guidance you can return to when making decisions

4. Feeling supported rather than alone with what you’re carrying

5. Understanding how past experiences are shaping your present

After a session, people often feel lighter, emotionally supported and seen by spiritual guides they hadn’t realized were always with them.

And, before you ask, yes,  everyone has spirit guides. 

Even you.

Sometimes Spirit recommends something simple, like a new ritual or a small shift in routine. Other times, there is a reminder for someone going through something dim or dark that things can work out positively, along with practical ideas to help them feel supported.

What It’s Not (and When Not to Have a Reading)

An Akashic Records reading is not:

• Fortune telling or predicting your future

• A blueprint with a guarantee that life will be easier

• A way to access someone else’s Records without permission

• A guaranteed connection with departed loved ones

It’s also best not to book a session if you’re looking for immediate answers or aren’t open to reflection. These readings work best when you’re calm, open, and ready to listen.

It’s not a quick fix.

So, How Do I Know If It’s a Good Time to Book an Akashic Records Reading?

So how do you know when it might be a good time to book an Akashic Records reading?

Ask yourself:

• Am I looking for clarity or perspective, not a prediction?

• Do I feel stuck, unsure or like I’m circling the same situations or questions?

• Am I open to hearing what comes through, even if it’s unexpected?

• Do I want to understand what’s influencing my situation right now?

• Am I ready to feel supported in finding my own way forward?

• Am I curious to find out how one or more of my past lives can provide more insight and understanding that will help me now?

If you answered yes to one or more, it could be a good time to explore an Akashic Records reading for guidance and clarity.
