My Top Tip for Tuning Into Your Akashic Records Session

A question I get a lot when I’m doing an Akashic Records reading is “Who is that talking?”
For anyone new to this, the Akashic Records are kind of like a spiritual Google Drive for your life. They’re an energetic record of your experiences, lessons, and guidance you can tap into whenever you want clarity or direction.
People often wonder if it’s a particular spirit guide or a loved one they knew.
Sometimes I’m curious too.
But here’s my perspective: when you’re in an Akashic Records reading, it’s less about who is speaking or providing the wisdom, and more about what the guidance offers. Don’t get distracted trying to figure out the source. Instead focus on the message itself.
Is it helpful?
Is it hopeful?
Does it bring clarity?
I believe that’s what matters most in your Akashic Records readings.
Think of It Like a Restaurant
Think of an Akashic Records session like going to an amazing, well-regarded restaurant. You trust the chef to prepare the meal with the best ingredients, perfectly combined.

While you’re eating, it’s the taste, flavors, textures, and how it makes you feel that matter most. Later, you might wonder where the ingredients came from, but in the moment, you’re simply enjoying the meal.
You trust the chef chose the best ingredients, even if you never see the chef.
In the same way, messages from the Akashic Records may come through different sources, whether it's Masters, Guides, Beings of Light, or even a loved one, but what really matters is that the guidance feels supportive, uplifting, and aligned with your highest good.
Mediumship vs. Akashic Records
Unlike a mediumship session, in an Akashic Records reading, you may not ever know the exact “who” behind a message. Names aren’t always given, and sometimes a message comes through as a collective energy or a group of Guides, overlapping in ways that are hard to separate.
What matters most is how the guidance feels in the moment. You don’t need to pin down a specific source to benefit from the insight.
It’s a bit like enjoying a dish without needing to know every ingredient or who cooked it. Instead you focus on how it nourishes you.
How to Approach Your Akashic Records Session
To get the most from your session:
Beforehand: Try a short meditation to connect with your guides. There's several to choose from on YouTube.
During the actual session: Focus on the messages given, and notice how they make you feel. Listen. And don't be afraid to ask more questions right then to delve deeper.
Afterwards: You can reflect on who may have spoken, but the insight itself is what's important.
When you tune into the guidance in real time, instead of who it's coming from, the more a session will flow. You'll often be more open and curious, so you can have a richer, overall experience.
A Fun Way to Explore Who’s Speaking
Next time you’re in the midst of a reading and wondering who is giving the message, try this quick shorthand: mark the message with a big W (for 'who') in your notes (I highly recommend keeping a journal of your sessions).
Then, after the session, listen back to the recording. Notice the tone and energy you felt. If you could give it a personality or even a color, what would it be?
Was it more like a tell-it-like-it-is Bob, a calm, soothing energy like Glinda, or even a great aunt you remember? Write that down too!
Did the energy feel light green, or more of an earthy brown? Grab a colored pencil and color that “W” in on your notes. It helps make the energy tangible and easier to track over time.
Then, the next time you enter the Records, see if a similar energy comes through. Over time, you may start to notice patterns in the energies and messages.
Remember, it’s not about knowing every detail.
Sometimes, you’re not meant to know yet, or even ever.
It’s about trusting that the Akashic Records provide the insight and guidance you need for your highest good at that moment (and, of course, if it doesn’t feel right, let it go).
This simple tracking exercise can help you see patterns and notice recurring energies. You may not know the exact name of the guide, but over time, you might start referring to that energy by a nickname, like “Mr. Blue” or Bob, or realize it is very similar to your Aunt Margaret.
